EN: The project The Act of Doing Makes It (Feel Like) Becoming (2019) consists of a short film and a collection of wearable sculptures, which is activated within a lecture performance. The work reflects on the paradoxical nature of the individual, who is both singular and plural. The individual is not merely a single body but is shaped by a network of social components—some governed by organic swarm behaviour, others controlled by artificial social structures created by authorities to exercise power.
In The Act of Doing Makes It (Feel Like) Becoming, the performing bodies—both performers and audience—collectively examine the framework of freedom: a search for balance between conjugation and subjugation that mirrors the desire to be a Self within a pluralised society.

DE: Das Projekt The Act of Doing Makes It (Feel Like) Becoming (2019) besteht aus einem Kurzfilm und einer Sammlung tragbarer Skulpturen, die im Rahmen einer Lecture-Performance aktiviert werden. Das Werk reflektiert das paradoxe Wesen des Individuums, das zugleich singulär und plural ist. Das Individuum ist nicht lediglich ein einzelner Körper, sondern wird durch ein Netzwerk sozialer Komponenten geformt – einige davon werden durch organisches Schwarmverhalten bestimmt, andere durch künstliche gesellschaftliche Strukturen, die von Autoritäten geschaffen wurden, um Macht auszuüben.
In The Act of Doing Makes It (Feel Like) Becoming untersuchen die agierenden Körper – sowohl Performer*innen als auch Publikum – gemeinsam das Rahmenwerk unserer Freiheit: eine Suche nach Gleichgewicht zwischen Verbindung und Unterwerfung, die dem menschlichen Drang ähnelt, ein Selbst in einer pluralisierten Gesellschaft zu sein.
