body axe (as per x, y, z)
Textile Sculpture, ca. 180 x 50 cm
body axe (as per x, y, z) is a figurative research of the body and mind in the Anthropocene; an era that is defined by the human impact on nature. The sculpture's transit state is symbolyzing the paradox of the Zeitgeist: an increased understanding of the Self through science and technology, and simultaneous alienation and disembodiment. The work results from the research on the collective trauma caused by war and natural catastrophes; and long-term consequences of suppressed and inherited memories. The prostrated sculpture expresses the defencelessness of a body that is plagued by memories, it may not even have experienced.
