‘Un/Folding’ is a multi-media installation consisting of a video, book, and sheet of wood, a neurological network laser-printed in its natural surface. The work refers to the rise of industries such as machine engineering and beverage industry, and the way those affected previous forms of agriculture in the 60s/70s. Mechanical ways of harvesting separated the communication between human beings and nature further. The repetitive and apathic performance in the video looks at the impact of labour work on the mental health of working class people. Today the extreme environmental changes of the past years lead to the psychological condition of Solastalgia, with symptoms of distress and anxiety. The work reflects on the paradoxical attempt of human being to control nature, while destroying parts of the Self.
